Systems Reliability Engineer

Visiting Media, LLC seeks System Reliability Engineer. Run the production environment
by setting up compute, storage environment, CDN, monitoring availability and taking a
holistic view of system health. Build systems to manage complex platform infrastructure
and applications. Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software
solutions. Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our
capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually
improve and support the foundation of our customer’s production systems. Provide
primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software
applications. Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications
to assist in performance tuning and fault finding. Partner with development teams to
improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures. Participate in system
design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning. Create sustainable
systems and services through automation and uplifts. Balance feature development
speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives. Develop software
systems and automated solutions for operational aspects. Incorporate software
engineering into operations thereby increasing the efficiency and reliability of software
systems and improving workflow. Create software that will improve the reliability of
systems, fixing issues and responding to incidents and issues. Knowledge and use of
various automation tools to build and integrate software tools to enhance the
organizational system’s reliability and scalability. Write documentation for system
usage. Ability to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. Requires Bachelor’s degree
or equivalent in Computer Science or other highly technical, scientific discipline, or a
closely related field. 15 years of experience including experience with shell
programming, object storage technologies like S3, and Linux sysadmin. A proactive
approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and bottlenecks. Experience
with network security, such as SOC and compliance.
